Shun Cleaver

Shun Nakiri

Shun Nakiri

The Shun Nakiri knife is engineered for fast chopping and dicing of foods.  The handle design is intended to safely keep hands and fingers away from the blade yet does not compromise comfort or control.

The Nakiri is a variation of the standard cleaver and can be used for chopping, dicing but also more difficult tasks of separating meat and bone if required.  If you or someone you know frequently purchases larger bulk pieces of  meat requiring custom trimming, the Nakiri knife is the ideal tool to safely portion bone-in selections, such as crown roasts, whole chickens or ribs.

Shun Nakiri Review

Pro: The shape and style of the Shun Nakiri knife feels very safe to use when chopping or dicing quickly.  The beveled edge does provide assistance in removing most of the diced food from the blade which means less wiping of the blade which I think is a lot safer.  I enjoy using it.

Con: When I am using my Nakiri knife there are times where I might find a spot that I want to cut out, for instance a portion of a vegetable that I want to discard.  The fact that it does not have a pointed blade means that I have to take out the paring knife to do so.
